The Panthers make History!

History was made on August 18th 2007. The South Miami Panthers played their first game ever. It's was a great day for everyone. The Panthers opened their schedule against a very strong North Miami Beach Sundevils team.

The South Miami Panthers were selected by the Orange Bowl Committee as the park of the week for the start of their 2007 season. The Orange Bowl Committee had a presentation ceremony at 10:00 AM at the South Miami Park. This presentation will be attended by City of South Miami Mayor Horace G. Feliu, Vice Mayor Randy G. Wiscombe, Commissioner Marie Birts-Cooper, City Manager Yvonne S. McKinley, Miami-Dade Extreme Football President Mauro Burmudez, Orange Bowl Youth Sports Manager Jose Regalado, The Orange Bowl Committee Board Members and last but not least OBEE the Orange Bowl Macot.

Welcome to our newest program: The South Miami Panthers Youth Tackle Football and
Cheerleading Program a division of South Florida Sports League, a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization that promotes a healthy and fun way for boys and girls ages 5 to 13 from all walks
of life to participate in a positive environment.

The South Miami Panthers play in the Miami Extreme Youth Football & Cheerleading
League. This is the biggest league in Miami-Dade County with twenty teams participating in Miami-Dade, Broward, Collier County. SFSL and the South Miami Panthers
are proud to be part of this great organization.



SFSL's mission statement is: Helping our youth with the biggest game of all, LIFE!

Our vision is for a child's ENJOYMENT of the game; this is what's important to the children!
When the game ceases to be fun, it ceases to be a game. We believe in the competition of the game, but without the undue stress placed on winning. We work very hard on the participation, teaching the basic fundamentals of the game and trying your best. Win or Lose, SFSL places it's focus on improving the skill levels of each child. Once that's achieved, our next focus is to incorporate our
"seven keys to succeed in Life" principles:

1. Trustworthiness
2. Respect
3. Responsibility
4. Fairness
5. Caring
6. Good Citizenship
7. Education

The highest potential of sports is achieved when competition reflects these "seven values of character."

Age and Weight:

All ages are based on calendar year from January to December.
(If a child turns age within the year he will have to play the next level up)

South Miami Panthers Football is for youth ages 5-13 who want to participate in a full contact, competitive sport. (The season runs from July until Late November)

Cost:

· $145.00 first player in family household. *** (Includes Shoulder pads, helmet and uniforms)

$130.00 additional player(s) in family household.

*** Each player gets to keep at the end of the season their Practice Jersey and Practice Pants.

· You may also register online.
(You still need to come and present all of the above information.)

South Miami Panthers Cheerleading is for young girls ages 5-13 who want to participate in cheering the teams on and to compete in national level competition. (The season runs from July until Late November)

Cost:

$145.00 first cheerleader in family household. *** (Includes all practice and Uniforms)

$130.00 additional cheerleaders in family household.

*** Each player gets to keep at the end of the season their Practice T-Shirt and Practice Shorts.

· All cheerleaders need to be present at Registration!

Our logo was chosen because of one of our state's most powerful animal the Florida Panther. Our logo Idea came to us from the old United States Football League Team; the Michigan Panthers. The South Miami Panthers will truly wear this logo very proud.

Be a part of a child life by coaching in our youth sports program. Coaches have always been a very important part of sports and molding young lives in a positive manner.

We welcome and encourage parent to volunteer. In fact any parent who wishes to volunteers as a coach, your child will have there registration waived. We want you to be a part of our great organization and enjoy the most rewarding job you will ever have! All of our coaches are volunteers! All coaches will be required to undergo a local background check.
